Ange Postecoglou wants Tottenham to sign Edmond Tapsoba

Tottenham Hotspur’s new boss Ange Postecoglou wants the club to acquire the services of 24-year-old centre-back Edmond Tapsoba.

According to a report by Fichajes, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on bolstering their defence in the winter transfer window and they have their eyes set on Edmond Tapsoba. The 24-year-old is one of the mainstays of Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen and his performances have attracted a lot of attention over the past 12 months.

Spurs were not at their best last season. They struggled throughout the campaign and their major concern was the defence which was conceding way too many goals. When Ange Postecoglou took charge of Spurs, his priority was to bolster their defence and they did sign a few players to improve things at the back.

The London club have been doing quite well so far in the new season. They might have lost Harry Kane but the new signings have done their bit and they are currently second on the points table in the English top flight.

Despite having added new stars to his defence in the summer, Postecoglou is still keen on further reinforcement. He wants to sign another centre-back in order to ensure they have enough strength and depth to push for major titles.

Spurs want to sign Tapsoba from Bayer Leverkusen. They were interested in acquiring the services of the 24-year-old in the summer but Tottenham failed in their attempt to land him at the club. However, they haven’t given up on their pursuit and remain interested in the Burkina Faso international.

Postecoglou is a big fan of the Leverkusen star and believes he could help them be a much better defensive unit. As a result, the Australian boss is keen on having him in his ranks and wants Spurs to sign him in the January transfer window.

While the London club are keen on having him in their ranks, it won’t be easy to acquire his services. Tapsoba’s contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2028 and they won’t let go of him with ease. On top of that, Spurs are not the only ones interested and they will face competition from some of the biggest clubs in Europe.
