Carlo Ancelotti wants Real Madrid to sign Federico Dimarco

Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants Real Madrid to sign 25-year-old Italian international Federico Dimarco from Inter Milan.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Federico Dimarco is the subject of interest from Carlo Ancelotti. The Real Madrid manager is an admirer of the 25-year-old defender. And he wants Los Blancos to sign the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League finalist from Inter Milan.

Federico Dimarco has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Serie A in the last few years. A graduate of the Inter Milan Academy, the Italian international had to bide his time before establishing a foothold at San Siro. He embarked on four loan spells while spending a year at FC Sion before returning to Inter Milan.

The 25-year-old finally rose in prominence during his successful loan spell at Hellas Verona. Since then, he has become a regular for Inter Milan, establishing a foothold in the first-team squad. Dimarco has started the 2023/24 season well, managing one goal and three assists in seven outings thus far.

Dimarco’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in the summer transfer window. Several well-known outfits remain keen on signing the 2022/23 UEFA Champions League finalist. And Real Madrid might be one of his prospective suitors next year.

Real Madrid will likely enter the market for a left-back in the 2024 summer transfer window. Ferland Mendy faces an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu, with his fitness issues leaving Los Blancos frustrated. Several left-backs, including Alphonso Davies, have thus emerged on Real Madrid’s radar.

The report claims that Real Madrid will likely prioritise signing Davies to bolster the left-back berth next year. But Carlo Ancelotti is pushing the Spanish club to secure Dimarco’s services instead of Davies. But prising him away from Inter Milan might be a tall order, with the player recently insisting he is committed to the Serie A club.

In addition, with the Real Madrid board prioritising signing Davies instead of Dimarco, a move for the 25-year-old Italian international would not have materialised anyway. So, it will be interesting to see which left-back arrives at the Santiago Bernabeu next year.
