Chelsea eyeing Theo Hernandez swoop

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of 25-year-old AC Milan full-back Theo Hernandez.

According to a report by Calciomercatoweb, Chelsea are keen on having Theo Hernandez in their ranks. The Blues have been monitoring the 25-year-old full-back for a while now and could push for his services in the near future.

Chelsea have spent a fortune on new players post their takeover. They have signed a lot of players in their last few transfer windows. And, the West London club have also offloaded a few of their senior player.

The Blues have targeted young players with huge potential, and they have acquired the services of some of the best young talents in world football. But, there were a few signings from their end that never really made any sense.

Signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton & Hove Albion for a fee of £62 million was not really an ideal deal for the club. There were doubts that it might not work out well for the club as well as the player, and it won’t be wrong to say that it hasn’t gone according to plan.

Cucurella is surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea wanted to offload him in the summer but failed to get him off their books. The 25-year-old is yet to make a Premier League appearance this season and as things stand, he will be sold in the winter transfer window.

His departure could lead to the arrival of a new full-back and Chelsea have their eyes set on Theo Hernandez. The 25-year-old French international is amongst the best left-backs in world football. He has been at AC Milan since 2019 and has gone from strength to strength with every passing season.

Hernandez is an attacking full-back who has 53 goal contributions in his 172 appearances for the Italian club. Hernandez still has three years left on his deal and is very happy to continue at Milan. Even the Rossoneri are keen on having him for years to come.

However, AC Milan do not have the best of financial situations, and there is no player on their roster who is non-transferable. As a result, Chelsea can surely try their luck to bring the French international to the club. Given their financial strength, they can surely strike a deal for the services of the 25-year-old. However, in the end, the decision will be in the hands of the player.
