Ivan Toney wants 2024 move; Arsenal, Chelsea informed on situation

Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly informed of Ivan Toney’s situation, as the player reportedly wants a move in 2024 when he returns to action.

Fabrizio Romano insists clubs like Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly informed of Ivan Toney’s situation. The Brentford striker reportedly wants a move to a big side in 2024. The 27-year-old striker will likely attract big interest starting in January when his ban lifts.

Brentford have started the season in solid form as the likes of Bryan Mbuemo and Yoann Wissa have taken on the attacking mantle in the absence of talisman Ivan Toney. The 27-year-old striker only returned to training earlier this week as he continues to serve a betting breaches-related ban.

Toney, now available to train, will only play competitive football in January 2024, which coincides with the next window, where clubs are showing an interest in signing him. The 27-year-old striker has admirers from London, with Chelsea one of the teams keen on taking him.

Thomas Frank made an appearance on Sky Sports’ MNF, insisting Brentford are a selling club and that they will consider offers for Toney. The news boosted Arsenal and Chelsea’s hopes of signing him, and they might consider a move for the 27-year-old striker.

Fabrizio Romano has now insisted that Arsenal and Chelsea are among the teams well-informed on Toney’s situation. Some reports stated the Gunners would have made an offer in the summer had it not been for the striker’s eight-month ban from football.

Romano said, “We know that, according to my information, that Brentford know that the player wants to leave in 2024. We will see if it’s January or summer. Ivan Toney has appointed a new agent because he wants a new experience in a top club.”

“Many clubs have contacted Toney. I can reveal that Italian clubs asked for information about Toney. But the Premier League is the priority of the player. Chelsea are well informed on the situation of the player, and also Arsenal are well informed on the conditions of the potential deal.”

Toney remains a special talent, and any top club would take him in a heartbeat. He broke the 20-goal barrier as he continues to grow in stature in the corridors of the Premier League. Whether the Blues will make a concerted effort to sign him remains the question, but they definitely need a new striker in their ranks.

Unlike Chelsea, Arsenal have brilliant players who can play strikers. Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah remain Mikel Arteta’s first-choice forwards. Kai Havertz can also cover in the position. Hence, it’s difficult to see the Gunners splashing on the 27-year-old striker. They do maintain good relations with Brentford after the recent deal for David Raya.
