Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is going through a difficult period at Old Trafford, and Jamie O’Hara has slammed Manchester United.
Jadon Sancho has been ostracised from the group following his public statement about Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag. And Jamie O’Hara has lent his support to the English international.
The winger was recently left out of the squad against Arsenal, and Erik ten Hag revealed that the England international has not been performing to the required standards in training. So, he was dropped from the squad. Responding to the manager’s comments, Sancho put out a public statement claiming that the claims are untrue and he has been working hard in training.
The player returned to Carrington earlier this week, and he held showdown talks with the Manchester United manager regarding the fiasco. Apparently, the meeting has not gone according to plan. So, Manchester United have now decided that the player will be training away from the first-team squad because of a discipline issue.
Reacting to the same, talkSPORT pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie O’Hara has suggested that Manchester United’s treatment of the 23-year-old winger is disgusting, and they are damaging mentally.
It is true that Sancho has not been able to live up to the expectations since his £73 million move to the club in 2021, and O’Hara believes that the only way he will get back to his best is being playing regularly and enjoying his football once again.
Leaving him out of the squad and forcing him to train alone will only demoralise him further, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops. Sancho was regarded as a world-class talent during his time at Borussia Dortmund, and he could be a key player for Manchester United if he manages to get back to that level.
Meanwhile, O’Hara has also added that Manchester United will have to be more careful regarding the player’s mental health and should be ashamed of themselves for the treatment that has been dished out to the England international.
“I think it’s disgusting what they’re doing to him. I know he’s come out and made a statement, whether that was the right thing to do or not… but was it right of Ten Hag to dig him out when he wasn’t even involved with the group? “We all know Jadon Sancho needs to be better on the football pitch. And how he does that is getting him back playing football, getting him training and enjoying his football.”
“What they’re doing to him right now is never going to get Jadon Sancho back to his best. All you’re going to do is mentally damage the football player and make him feel worse than he already does. If Manchester United can come out and say they’re mental health ambassadors and they do all this stuff about mental health around their group and community and then do that to their own player, they should be ashamed of themselves.”
“They shouldn’t be doing that in this day and age… we all know it’s gone on in the past but you can’t do it anymore, especially to a young player who’s already been through mental health struggles.”
