Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are looking to secure the future of their 25-year-old defender Ben White with a new long-term deal.
According to a report by 90min, Arsenal are looking to extend the stay of Ben White at the club. The 25-year-old has been an important part of Mikel Arteta’s first team over the past few seasons and the club are looking to secure his services beyond 2026 with a new long-term deal.
White arrived at the club in the summer of 2021 for £50 million after coming through the ranks at Brighton and putting up some impressive performances for their first team. The England international has gone from strength to strength since joining Arteta’s team.
The 25-year-old has done well in multiple roles. While he prefers playing as a right-back, he is equally effective in the heart of the defence. The English defender is an integral part of their first team that looks all set to push for all major titles this season.
Since arriving at the club, White has featured in a total of 88 games and he even has five goal contributions to his name. In the ongoing season, the 25-year-old already has five appearances. He has featured as a centre-back on three occasions and as a right-back in the other two games.
While Arteta is keen on signing a new attack-minded right-back, White still remains an important part of his team as the England international is capable enough to feature in the centre as well as out wide. Given his importance to the team, they are looking to extend his contract.
Arsenal are keen on having him in their ranks beyond his current contract. The 25-year-old’s current deal expires in the summer of 2026 and they are ready to push it even further with a new lucrative deal.
The former Brighton player is not the only one they want to pen a new deal with. The London club are also planning on extending the contract of their club captain Martin Ødegaard and Oleksandr Zinchenko.
The Gunners want to protect their core as they look to bring back the glory days. As a result, they have already extended the contract of a few of their stars and are now looking to seal a few more deals before the transfer window reopens.
According to the report, the talks between the Gunners and the player’s representatives have gone well. And, White is close to putting pen to paper. If all goes according to plan, the 25-year-old will soon extend his stay at the London club.
