Garet Bale backs Real Madrid signing to win Ballon d’Or

Real Madrid icon Gareth Bale has backed summer signing and in-form English international Jude Bellingham to win the Ballon d’Or.

In an interview with Sky Sports, Gareth Bale showered praise on summer signing Jude Bellingham. The Real Madrid icon even suggested that the English international will win the Ballon d’Or in the future, insisting that the “sky is the limit” for the prodigious midfielder.

Jude Bellingham has set the stage alight since joining Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in a big-money deal. Going by his impact in the first month of the 2023/24 season, he is arguably the signing of the summer transfer window. The 20-year-old has also translated his form on the international stage.

Bellingham was on fire, playing his part as England beat Scotland in a recent friendly. Meanwhile, the English international has amassed five goals and one assist in four La Liga appearances thus far this season to sit atop the scoring charts in the Spanish top flight. And his performances have earned him a fan in Gareth Bale.

The former Welsh international recently called time on his glittering career after leading his nation into the 2022 FIFA World Cup. Meanwhile, he represented Real Madrid for nearly a decade, winning multiple league titles and UEFA Champions League honours. He also played a leading role in victories in multiple European finals with crucial goals.

So, any praise coming from a bonafide Real Madrid icon holds weight. When Sky Sports asked if Bellingham could win the Ballon d’Or, Bale said, “The sky is the limit for him if he keeps doing what he is doing.”

“I haven’t seen a lot, but he has made a great start, scoring a lot of goals which is important at a club like Real Madrid. He’s doing well. I hope he keeps on going and makes Britain proud.”
