Liverpool might pursue Ez Abde as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah after approaching Barcelona for the 21-year-old.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Ez Abde is the subject of interest from Liverpool over a possible move in the ongoing transfer window. The Merseyside club might pursue the 21-year-old Barcelona forward to replace Mohamed Salah if the 31-year-old leaves. The Reds were also interested in Ansu Fati. But the 20-year-old is on the verge of joining Brighton & Hove Albion.
Ez Abde has had to bide his time since joining Barcelona from Hercules CF in August 2021. The Moroccan international enjoyed some game time in his debut season with the Blaugrana. But he spent the 2022/23 campaign on loan at Osasuna, where he gradually grew in stature.
Now back at FC Barcelona, the 21-year-old is reportedly a part of Xavi Hernandez’s plans for the new season. But Abde has managed only 67 minutes of game time thus far this term. And the youngster’s situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.
Recent reports have linked the young winger with Aston Villa, Bayer Leverkusen, and Sevilla. Intermediaries have also offered him to a few clubs. But Liverpool might be Abde’s next destination, with the Merseyside club contacting Barcelona to discuss a possible deal.
The Reds are in a spot of bother over Mohamed Salah’s future. While the Reds have maintained that they will not sell their talismanic attacker, exit links are showing no signs of disappearing. And Al-Ittihad will be ready to break the bank to bring the Egyptian forward to Saudi Arabia,
So Liverpool must identify potential options to replace Salah before the summer transfer window shuts down. Several candidates have thus emerged on their radar, with Ez Abde being the latest option. And the Reds have approached Barcelona to discuss a possible deal for the 21-year-old prospect.
Liverpool also showed interest in Ansu Fati. But the Spanish international is on the verge of joining Brighton & Hove Albion on loan for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, Liverpool will hope Salah does not leave at this stage of the summer transfer window. But Ez Abde might become their top option to replace the 31-year-old if the unthinkable happens.
