Arsenal open to selling Emile Smith Rowe amid Chelsea links

Arsenal are considering parting ways with their 23-year-old attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe amidst interest from Chelsea.

According to The Times, Arsenal could part ways with Emile Smith Rowe before the end of the ongoing transfer window. The 23-year-old sensation is not happy with the limited game time under Mikel Arteta and is on the radar of Chelsea.

Smith Rowe has been at Arsenal since his childhood days. The 23-year-old has come up the ranks at the club and was promoted to their first team back in 2020. Initially, he was an important part of their first team and racked up a lot of minutes but of late things have changed.

In all, he has featured in 97 matches for the Gunners and has contributed towards 29 goals. These are impressive numbers when we consider the fact that he is most often used as a substitute.

Last season, the England youth international could only feature in a total of 12 Premier League games, and he was on the pitch for less than 200 minutes. Injuries did play a part, but even when he was available, Smith Rowe found himself on the bench.

The start of the new season has not been great for the Arsenal academy graduate, as he is yet to feature in any of their Premier League games. His only appearance came in the Community Shield win over Manchester City. But he was on the pitch for just three minutes.

The 23-year-old is not happy with the limited game time at the North London club. And, according to the report, the Gunners are ready to negotiate his departure. They are yet to place a price tag on Smith Rowe, who still has three years left on his deal with the club.

Meanwhile, Arsenal have spent a fortune on new transfers in the ongoing window, and they are looking to recoup some amount by offloading him. Smith Rowe has been offered to a few unnamed Premier League clubs, and there is interest in his services from Chelsea.

The Blues have approached Arsenal over a potential transfer of the England youth international. Chelsea have been one of the busiest teams in the transfer window in terms of both incomings and outgoings.

They are looking to build a young team that could compete for trophies, and the 23-year-old could be a great addition to their ranks. While they are interested in his services, they are yet to make any offers for his services. And it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can prise Smith Rowe away from Arsenal.
