Real Madrid recently contacted Jorge Mendes to discuss 21-year-old Spanish midfield prospect Santi Garcia, one of the jewels at Getafe.
According to a report by Spanish outlet MARCA, Santi Garcia is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And the Merengues have already contacted Jorge Mendes to discuss the 21-year-old midfield prospect. Meanwhile, the Getafe sensation is also a target for local rival Atletico Madrid.
Santi Garcia has had to bide his time since joining Getafe from CF Trival Valderas nearly three years ago. A native of Madrid, the Spanish whizkid is a versatile midfielder who can reprise the no. 10 role. But apart from his preferred position, he can also play on both flanks, making him a utility man for his teams.
Coaches at the club have rated Garcia highly in the last three years. And if not for an untimely injury, he would have made his first-team debut last season. Nonetheless, his Getafe bow finally came against Girona a few days ago. And while the Azulones lost the match 3-0, the 21-year-old was one of the positives from the forgettable game.
Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress at Getafe has not gone unnoticed, with several high-profile clubs keeping tabs on him. And Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid have closely monitored the youngster. In addition, the two clubs have contacted Jorge Mendes to discuss Garcia and a possible move.

Real Madrid might not secure Garcia’s services this summer, considering they have already signed two midfielders. But with Carlo Ancelotti starting to phase out Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, they might need a midfield reinforcement next summer. The 21-year-old Spanish midfield prospect is thus a viable target.
Garcia’s profile matches another top 2024 target, Florian Wirtz. And amid heavy competition for the German international, it behoves Real Madrid to have a contingency plan. If the youngster continues to produce impressive performances this season, a move next year might be on the cards.
For now, the 21-year-old Spanish midfield prospect has only emerged as a possible target on Real Madrid’s radar. And it will be interesting to see if the Merengues launch the offensive to sign Garcia from Getafe anytime soon.
