Kylian Mbappe ready to extend PSG stay amid Real Madrid links

Kylian Mbappe reportedly wants to continue his stint with Paris Saint-Germain, who will soon open talks with the Real Madrid target.

According to Canal+ via Madrid Xtra, Real Madrid might face another blow while pursuing Kylian Mbappe. The French international is ready to commit his future to Paris Saint-Germain. And the Ligue 1 champions are lining up negotiations over a new contract with the disgraced attacker.

The Kylian Mbappe-Real Madrid saga has dragged on forever, with Los Blancos always drawing the short end of the stick. The Merengues have been pursuing the 24-year-old for over half a decade. But they have not been successful in prising him away from Paris Saint-Germain.

There have been many false dawns during this period, with Mbappe’s contract nearly running out last summer. And Real Madrid even had an agreement on personal terms with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner only for him to sign a new deal with PSG. However, the ongoing transfer window had brought some optimism in the Real Madrid camp.

The French international only signed a short-term contract with PSG last summer. And he entered the final year of his deal last month while revealing he would not sign a new contract with Les Parisiens. The bombshell came after an excellent season for the player, who amassed 41 goals and ten assists in 43 appearances last term.

Mbappe’s stock also skyrocketed during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, where he won the Golden Boot but came agonisingly close to lifting the coveted trophy in a second successive edition. Meanwhile, the player’s uncertain future at the club level had given way to widespread speculation, with Real Madrid aiming to sign him in 2024. But old habits seemingly die hard.

Mbappe infamously snubbed Real Madrid to sign a new contract with PSG last summer. And the update by Canal+ has revealed that he is ready to commit his future to Les Parisiens. Meanwhile, the Ligue 1 champions are lining up contract renewal talks with the World Cup winner.

So the stars are seemingly aligning perfectly for PSG again while handing a blow to Real Madrid. But it will be interesting to see if Los Blancos can convince the 24-year-old to run out his deal with PSG. However, amid the looming threat of the French heavyweights banishing him to the bench for the season, Mbappe’s stance of signing a new contract might not surprise many.
