Goncalo Ramos is on the verge of joining Paris Saint-Germain in a sensational €80 million move from Benfica very soon.
Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Paris Saint-Germain are on the verge of signing Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos imminently. The striker, who scored 27 times last season, was also on Manchester United’s radar, but now he will complete an €80 million transfer to France.
Goncalo Ramos has been Benfica’s most consistent performer over the last 18 months. His impressive form also landed him a place in the Portuguese national team squad for the World Cup, and he repaid the faith with a sensational hat-trick against Switzerland.
Scoring three goals at the biggest stage at the expense of talismanic striker Cristiano Ronaldo instantly put the 22-year-old on the radars of top clubs. Manchester United were considered one of the top contenders for the Portugal star. But their recent agreement to sign Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta eventually ended the chase.
Hojlund will join Manchester United at a similar price tag that Benfica demanded for Ramos. Possibly the Danish striker being more of a physical presence may have done the trick, but he barely comes close to Ramos’s goalscoring prowess.

Ramos scored 27 goals for Benfica in all competitions, thus making him one of the most prolific forwards in Europe. Now, Paris Saint Germain are on the verge of signing the 22-year-old in an €80 million deal from the Portuguese club.
PSG had maintained an interest in Ramos for over a year, as per Fabrizio Romano, and recently held advanced talks with Benfica. Director Luis Campos had accelerated discussions with the Portuguese side to bring closure to the chase by agreeing to pay €80 million.
Ramos could become PSG’s second prolific signing in a short space of time. The Parisians are also close to signing Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona and will pay a reported €50 million fee for the France international. He and Ramos could form part of their attack, irrespective of what happens to Kylian Mbappe’s future.
The Ramos acquisition seems like a good move for all parties, especially for PSG. They had wanted to shore up their attacking setup and were in the market for a striker. Ultimately, they chose to play €80 million for the Portugal international, formerly a Manchester United target.
