Demarai Gray agrees personal terms with Fulham

Fulham have reportedly already agreed personal terms with Demarai Gray as negotiations with Everton over a transfer fee continues.

According to Football Insider, Fulham have agreed personal terms with Demarai Gray, who is not training with Everton’s first-team squad, as Sean Dyche has granted him permission to discuss a transfer away from the club. The Cottagers will now need to agree on a fee with the Toffees, with a breakthrough in transfer talks between the two Premier League sides expected soon.

Crystal Palace have also been credited with an interest in the 27-year-old, who has a year left on his contract at Goodison Park. The Toffees turned down an offer from Turkish SuperLig club Besiktas, while there is interest from Saudi Arabia for the winger. However, it seems Fulham are in the lead to land his signature before the end of the summer transfer window.

Gray, who was part of the Premier League-winning Leicester City side during the 2015/16 season,  joined the Toffees for just £1.7 million from Bayer Leverkusen in 2021. And he has since proven worth every penny of that fee.

The electric winger started 28 Premier League matches in his debut season as he helped his side maintain their top-flight status. In total, he has racked up 12 goals and six assists in 75 appearances for the Merseyside outfit across all competitions, but his two-year stint with Everton now appears to be coming to an end.

His role at Goodison Park diminished after the arrival of former Burnley boss Sean Dyche, who preferred Dwight McNeil on the left flank. With Arnaut Danjuma’s arrival from Villarreal on a loan deal bringing additional competition for places, the 27-year-old has reportedly grown frustrated with his starting opportunities under Dyche and has asked to leave the Merseyside outfit in this transfer window.

The Toffees are looking to raise funds for new summer additions. And with no progress in contract extension talks, they are willing to let the former Leicester City star leave if they receive a reasonable fee for him. The 27-year-old Premier League winner has now agreed personal terms with Fulham.

With a clear need for attacking reinforcements following the departure of Manor Solomon to Tottenham after his loan spell and the return of Wales international winger Dan James to Leeds United, Fulham’s interest in Gray makes a lot of sense. Having shone for Jamaica at the recent Concacaf Gold Cup, Gray’s dynamism and pace could be just what manager Marco Silva needs in his side next season.
