Real Madrid can secure the services of Italian creative midfielder Nicolo Barella if they shell out €70-80 million to Inter Milan.
According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb, Nicolo Barella is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. And the Merengues now know how much it will take for them to sign him in the ongoing transfer window. Inter Milan will demand around €70-80 million to part ways with the Italian creative midfielder.
Nicolo Barella has established himself as one of the best midfielders in the world since joining Inter Milan. The 26-year-old was one of the best young prospects in his homeland when he moved to San Siro. And after a season on loan with the Nerazzurri, he completed a permanent transfer in September 2020.
He has turned out 187 times thus far for Inter Milan, chipping in with 20 goals and 44 assists. And the Italian international is also a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Azzurri. But Barella’s Inter Milan future is uncertain amid widespread interest from high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid.
The former Cagliari midfielder has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And Carlo Ancelotti has reportedly been pushing Los Blancos to sign him. But the continued interest in securing Barella’s services is surprising, considering how stacked the Real Madrid midfield unit is.
The Merengues have already signed Jude Bellingham and Arda Guler in the ongoing transfer window. And with Luka Modric and Toni Kroos still going strong, Ancelotti has too many options at his disposal. With Aurelien Tchouameni, Federico Valverde, and Eduardo Camavinga also being a part of the first-team squad, Real Madrid will not need another midfielder.
Nonetheless, the report by Calciomercatoweb suggests that Barella’s name features on Real Madrid’s wishlist. But the 26-year-old creative midfielder will not come cheap, with Inter Milan demanding €70-80 million to part ways with him. That kind of outlay is not necessary for Real Madrid this summer.
Instead, Los Blancos can launch the offensive for the Italian international if Modric and Kroos call time on their careers at the end of the upcoming season. For now, while Barella’s name features on Real Madrid’s radar, it does not behove them to pay €70-80 million to land him.
