AC Milan, Atalanta interested in Japhet Tanganga

Japhet Tanganga has been linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, with Serie A clubs AC Milan and Atalanta keen.

Japhet Tanganga is no longer a key player for Tottenham Hotspur, and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time. According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, AC Milan and Atalanta are keen on signing him.

The defender was highly rated at Tottenham when he broke through to the first-team scene under former manager Jose Mourinho. He was expected to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham over the next few seasons. However, things have not worked out for him, and he has struggled for regular game time under the previous managers.

It seems that he is not a key part of Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans either. It makes sense for Tanganga to move on so that he can play regular first-team football. AC Milan and Atalanta could represent an exciting opportunity for the player, and it will be interesting to see if the two clubs follow up on their interest with a concrete proposal.

Tottenham will hope to get rid of the fringe players and invest the money into the playing squad. They have been linked with a number of central defenders, including Tosin Adarabioyo, in recent weeks. So they could certainly use the cash from Tanganga’s departure. The 24-year-old is a versatile defender who can operate as the right back as well as a central defender.

There is no doubt that the versatile defender has the talent to play for the two Serie A clubs, and he could be an important member of the first-team squad for them in the coming seasons. If he manages to fulfil his potential with AC Milan or Atalanta in the coming seasons, Tottenham might regret letting him leave.

The defender needs to play regularly at this stage of his career if he wants to fulfil his potential. A move away from Tottenham would be ideal for all parties, and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Tanganga is not the only player linked with a move away from Tottenham this summer, and defenders like Davinson Sanchez and Joe Rodon could follow him on their way out of the club. But specifically for the 24-year-old utility man, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.
