Hakim Ziyech is closing in on sealing his exit from Chelsea
Journalist Rudy Galetti has confirmed to GiveMeSport that Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech is keen to seal his exit from Stamford Bridge in the ongoing 2023 summer transfer window.
The Moroccan international arrived at Chelsea from Ajax Amsterdam in 2020 but struggled to impose himself thanks to a mixture of injuries and inconsistency. In the three years since he has made 104 appearances across all competitions, scoring 14 goals and assisting 13 more.
Ziyech was part of the Blues squad that won the treble of the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in 2021. However, he did not play a major part in any of the campaigns and was more of a supporting player. It represented a major drop-off from the midfielder who played a starring role for Ajax.
The 30-year-old came close to leaving Chelsea last January only for the move to PSG to fall apart on deadline day. A summer move to Al Nassr appeared all but done only for Ziyech to fail his medical. Clearly, the fortunes aren’t smiling upon him of late.
He was also left out of Mauricio Pochettino’s squad that travelled to the USA for pre-season, giving a clear indication of his standing in west London. It is in everyone’s best interests that he is moved on as soon as possible.
Galetti has now confirmed the same and has added that both the club and the player are seeking a quick solution for his future. Hopefully, the third time’s the charm for the 30-year-old.
“After the failed medical tests with Al-Nassr, at the moment there is only one certainty with Hakim Ziyech’s future. He wants to leave Chelsea as soon as possible.”
He has also added that Al Nassr are considering a fresh approach for Ziech at a reduced fee. With Chelsea ready to sell, it could all depend on whether the player fancies the move to Saudi Arabia. Given his lack of options elsewhere, there could, however, be little choice.
Ziyech remains a top player who still has much to offer. Unfortunately, his time at Chelsea is coming to a rather unceremonious end. PSG and Napoli remain interested and it remains to be seen if
