Chelsea, Aston Villa keeping tabs on Ibrahim Adel

Chelsea and Aston Villa have reportedly been linked with a move for 22-year-old Egyptian winger Ibrahim Adel.

A report from 90min claims that Ibrahim Adel has impressed Chelsea and Aston Villa, among others, with his performances in the recent African Under-23 Championships. The 22-year-old winger comes with a stamp of approval from compatriot Mohamed Salah.

According to the report, Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has previously recommended the player to Liverpool. The recent change in the UK work permit system means that the 22-year-old will be allowed to join clubs like Chelsea and Aston Villa this summer. So it will be interesting to see how the situation develops.

The 22-year-old Egyptian winger needs to join a club where he will play regular first-team football and Chelsea might not be able to provide him with that opportunity. The Blues already have players like Raheem Sterling, Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke at their disposal.

Sitting on the bench at a big club will only hurt his development, and the 22-year-old cannot afford that at this stage of his career. He is regarded as one of African football’s best young talents and he has the potential to develop into a top-class attacker. Meanwhile, Aston Villa could certainly use someone like him.

Aston Villa will need to add pace and trickery to their attack, and the 22-year-old could prove to be a useful acquisition for them. Working with a top-class coach like Unai Emery would also accelerate his development and help him fulfil his potential. But Villa are also interested in other wingers like Moussa Diaby.

The report further states that clubs like Newcastle United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Bradford City, West Ham United, Burnley and Southampton have all shown interest in signing the 22-year-old winger. Clubs from France, Spain and Germany are also keeping tabs on his progress.
