Bayer Leverkusen interested in Luke Chambers

Bayer Leverkusen are keen on 19-year-old Liverpool defensive sensation Luke Chambers as Xavi Alonso plots a loan move.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool’s young defender Luke Chambers is a target for Bayer Leverkusen in this window. Xabi Alonso needs a new left-back and was thoroughly impressed by the 19-year-old defensive sensation as the Spaniard plots a loan move for the full-back.

Luke Chambers caught the eye with his impressive displays while on loan to Kilmarnock last season. He is a highly regarded player by Jurgen Klopp, but there is still plenty of time for him to have a crack into the first-team plans.

Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas have established themselves as the primary left-back options in the first team. Hence, there is hardly any chance for a player like Chambers to stake a claim in the forthcoming season. So another move away might make sense for his development.

Last season, he played 14 times for Kilmarnock in the top flight and has thoroughly impressed a few teams in the process. One seem like Bayer Leverkusen, who want to bring the 19-year-old Liverpool defensive sensation to the Bundesliga.

Alonso has been sensational since taking over at Leverkusen, and any youngster would relish the opportunity to become a part of that project. The Spanish boss recently convinced Granit Xhaka to sign for the club, who, after completing his medicals, has officially joined the club from Arsenal.

Meanwhile, Alonso needs a new left-back in this window and is ready to trust Chambers with the task ahead of the new campaign. It is a massive chance for the 19-year-old Liverpool defensive sensation to make a mark at the top level, which could benefit Klopp.

Liverpool regard the 19-year-old highly and will show no interest in selling him. Hence, if Leverkusen propose a loan move, the Merseysiders might gladly accept it and send Chambers to Germany. Any potential move to Alonso’s side promises massive dividends for the player and the parent club, so this move seems like a win-win situation.

Leverkusen may look to add more players before the window ends, although there are chances some of their notable stars may depart. The likes of Edmond Tapsoba and Moussa Diaby remain linked with Premier League moves, which could provide Alonso with some funds to bring players of his liking to strengthen the squad.
