Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku is desperate to return to Inter Milan and is willing to take a pay cut to make the move possible.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport via FC Inter News, Romelu Lukaku is keen on re-joining Inter Milan ahead of next season and is willing to take a significant pay cut to ensure the transfer takes place. There is no future for the Belgian international at Chelsea and even the Blues are ready to offload him for the right price.
Lukaku spent last season on loan at Inter Milan. The 30-year-old might not have had the season of his life but he did manage to put in some impressive performances every now and then.
The Chelsea forward featured in a total of 37 matches and was on the pitch for less than 2000 minutes. However, he still managed to find the back of the net on 14 occasions and also had seven assists to his name.
The Belgian did enough to impress Simone Inzaghi and the Italian manager is now keen on having him back in his ranks. Inter are looking for a striker but they have financial restrictions. As a result, pushing for Lukaku makes perfect sense as he will be available for a cut price with Chelsea willing to sell.
Lukaku joined the Blues back in the summer of 2021 in a big-money move from Inter. He failed to fire and was sent back to Italy on loan. While the 30-year-old is back at the club, there is no place for him in the squad. He is not a part of Mauricio Pochettino’s plan moving ahead and they are keen on getting him off their books as soon as possible.
Chelsea are looking for a fee close to €45 million while Inter are looking to put forward a proposal of €35 million when the official negotiations get underway next week. Meanwhile, the player is desperate to join Inter Milan, he doesn’t want to continue at Chelsea.
The 30-year-old wants to return to Inter at any cost and is willing to take a significant pay cut. He earned around €8.5 million plus bonuses last year and is willing to lower his wages further to ensure he joins the Italian giants in the coming weeks.
