Tottenham Hotspur are very close to acquiring the services of 24-year-old Bayer Leverkusen defender Edmond Tapsoba.
According to Rudy Galetti via GIVEMESPORT, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having Edmond Tapsoba in their ranks ahead of next season and they are very close to securing his services. He has been in sensational form of late, and there are quite a few clubs interested in the 24-year-old.
Tapsoba came through the ranks at the Portuguese club Vitoria S.C. before joining Bayer Leverkusen in the winter of 2020. The 24-year-old has not looked back since making the move to the Bundesliga club. He has gone from strength to strength and made quite a name for himself.
The Burkina Faso international featured in a total of 47 matches in the recently concluded season. He was the mainstay of his team and even contributed towards four goals. While his contract with the Bundesliga club runs until the summer of 2026, the 24-year-old is expected to be on the move in the ongoing season.
Tottenham Hotspur are keen on having him in their ranks. Their priority heading into this summer was to sort out their goalkeeping situation, and they have already done that. The London club have forked out £17 million to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli to solve their goalkeeper concern.
As far as the midfield is concerned, they have acquired the services of James Maddison. Now Ange Postecoglou has shifted his focus towards the defence. Spurs were poor defensively last time out, and they surely need to ensure they are much better prepared this time out.
On top of that, they no longer have the services of Clément Lenglet, who has returned to Barcelona after the completion of his loan move. As a result, they have their eyes set on Tapsoba, who is currently on a £52,000-a-week deal.
Galetti on Tapsoba to Spurs, “On the table, there are around €25m and the German club is concretely evaluating this proposal. Last winter, Arsenal asked them for him but then now they decide to go for Timber, who is close as well. So, the Burkina Faso player [Tapsoba], we can say that is one step away from joining Tottenham. In the next few days, they will push and close the deal positively.”
Representatives of the club have been closely following him, scouts have watched him in action on multiple occasions, and they believe he could be a great fit for the club. Tottenham are confident in the 24-year-old’s services, and they have put forward an offer to acquire his services.
Galetti is confident that Tottenham will get the job done, and there should be an official confirmation in the near future about Tapsoba joining Tottenham Hotspur.
