Arsenal contemplating Kylian Mbappe swoop

Arsenal are reportedly contemplating a sensational coup for Kylian Mbappe, as Mikel Arteta could look to take an opportunity on the Frenchman.

According to Football Transfers, Arsenal could consider a sensational move for Kylian Mbappe. The Gunners have been in sensational form during this transfer period. But there are considerable doubts about whether the interest in the in-demand PSG talisman is genuine. The Frenchman is also a target for Real Madrid.

Kylian Mbappe stirred up a storm in June when he revealed his intention not to extend his contract with Paris Saint-Germain. The decision caused controversy in the media, as the Parisian club then considered selling their prized asset.

In truth, even if PSG wanted to cash in on the French captain, the final decision would have to come from Mbappe. Real Madrid are the clear favourites to sign the striker, having chased him for several years. They even offered a huge transfer fee earlier. But PSG decided to keep the forward.

However, it appears like Mbappe will leave PSG one way or another, although he remains open to staying until his existing deal expires in 2024. Real Madrid reportedly have an agreement to sign him then, but nothing has been confirmed yet.

Meanwhile, other clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United are linked, which will not surprise many, considering they have the financial firepower. However, a few eyebrows have been raised with the possibility of Arsenal signing the in-demand 41-goal striker.

A recent report on Football Transfers suggests Mikel Arteta could make a sensational coup for Mbappe. The site has recently run stories with unthinkable rumours linking Arsenal to several top-rated stars, although they fall under their price range.

For instance, the outlet linked Arsenal with a move for Aurelien Tchouameni and also to Tottenham target Micky van de Ven. Both those players are not on their radar, as they currently may not have the budget to execute such transfers.

Having recently agreed on a record deal for Declan Rice with West Ham United, Arsenal will likely look to bring in another midfielder. However, amid the links to Mbappe, the club do not have a clear need for a new striker after bringing Kai Havertz from Chelsea.

While any club with the financial means would like to sign Mbappe, it is unlikely for Arsenal right now to pay a premium price. They might come into the equation for the French superstar next summer if the conditions are right. But realistically he does not suit their policy. And a move to Real Madrid is likely.
