Premier League heavy-spenders Chelsea are reportedly preparing to lodge a blockbuster €80 million offer for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic this summer.
According to Fichajes, Chelsea are ready to invest substantially in their pursuit of highly sought-after Serbian striker Dusan Vlahovic. The Blues are lining up a hefty €80 million to lure him away from cash-strapped Juventus.
With the transfer window opening last week, teams across the Premier League are getting their summer spending underway. Meanwhile, Chelsea are under pressure to remain within the FFP regulations come June 30 after committing to spending in excess of €600 million across two transfer windows under the new owners.
As such, they are doing extremely well in terms of trimming their squad and recouping sizable fees for their fringe cast, including all Saudi Arabian exits and Kai Havertz’s move to Arsenal for a hefty fee. Their coffers could also be boosted with another big sale, with Manchester United understood to at last be closing in on Mason Mount move.
On the flip side, Moises Caicedo appears to be the main target, and personal terms have reportedly been agreed with the Brighton midfielder. In addition, Chelsea are also closing in on a deal to land Villarreal’s Nicolas Jackson. Now, it appears they are lining up a blockbuster €80 million offer for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.
The 23-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in Serie A in recent times. After scoring 49 goals in 108 games for Fiorentina, the Serbian international swapped Fiorentina for Juventus in January 2022 for €85 million.
However, things have not quite gone to plan for Vlahovic, and his form has been disappointing, with the Serb scoring 23 goals in 63 appearances in his 18 months at the club. Now, Juventus won’t be playing in the Champions League next campaign after a seventh-place finish last term, which is a byproduct of receiving a ten-point deduction due to false accounting.
The Old Lady are open to listening to offers for the 23-year-old, who still has three years left to run on his contract at the Allianz Stadium. Chelsea are reported to be the most interested party and would have no problem in splashing the cash to secure his services.
The Blues had a disappointing 2021/22 season, which saw them finish 11th in the Premier League and miss out on European competition. Newly-appointed boss Mauricio Pochettino has specifically requested the addition of a prolific goalscorer, and Vlahovic seems to fit the profile.
Daily Telegraph also reported yesterday that Juventus are interested in Romelu Lukaku as a potential replacement for Vlahovic. It will be interesting to see if some kind of player-plus-cash deal is ironed out between the two clubs in the coming days. But as things stand the Blues are weighing up a monster cash offer to land one of Pochettino’s top targets summer.
