Leeds United are keen to bring Manchester United star Amad Diallo on loan for next season as they look to push for immediate promotion.
According to Daily Mail, Leeds United have identified Amad Diallo as an ideal signing this summer. The Elland Road outfit are keen to sign the 14-goal Manchester United prospect on loan for next season. But any chase would become complicated by the player’s choice.
Manchester United and Leeds United have had a strange relationship over many decades. Much is related to the proximity of the two clubs, plus the fact that the Red Devils have managed to snap up some of the most promising talents out of Elland Road in the past.
Now, Leeds United are looking to sign one of Manchester United’s brightest talents in Amad Diallo. The former Atalanta star has endured a difficult period since coming to Old Trafford, as injuries have played their part. The club chiefs have remained patient with their approach and decided to loan him to Sunderland last season.
At the Stadium of Light, Diallo had a sensational season. His 14 goals during the campaign helped the Black Cats to a promotion play-off place, but they fell short in their quest. After an impressive season out on loan, the 20-year-old is all set to return to his parent club.
Erik ten Hag will surely look at him in pre-season and make a decision regarding his future. The Dutch manager could consider keeping him at the club. While he could excel at Manchester United, there’s a steep pecking order to battle. As a result, another loan move could be on the cards, as the Red Devils might feel the need to let him have another season of regular game time.
The emergence of Alejandro Garnacho, and the subsequent new deal for the Argentine sensation will see him become a mainstay in this team next season. Secondly, they also plan to hand Facundo Pellistri a new deal as Ten Hag sees the Uruguayan as an important squad member.
That aside, Diallo will find himself way behind in the pecking order with Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho all Ten Hag’s primary wide attackers. The latter was linked with a move to another side. But he might stay put and fight for his place at Old Trafford.
As for Leeds United, they are keen to return to the Premier League after their relegation last season. They might see Diallo as a solid player to help their cause, as they could lose a few of their current first-team stars like Wilfried Gnonto.
However, the complicated part comes from Diallo himself, who remains open to another loan, but only to Sunderland. He would like to help the Black Cats with another promotion push. If he remains adamant on that stance, Leeds might find it tough to sign the 20-year-old.
