Manchester United are eyeing a double raid on Manchester City academy for Darren Fletcher’s twin boys, Jack and Tyler Fletcher.
According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are vying to sign Jack and Tyler Fletcher from neighbours Manchester City. The twins are the sons of Red Devils’ technical director Darren Fletcher. But that relationship is not the reason for this pursuit, as the club rate the midfielders rather highly.
In an interesting development, Manchester United are chasing the signatures of highly rated midfielders Jack and Tyler Fletcher. The 16-year-old twis have enjoyed a good time within the Manchester City academy and remain on schoolboy terms as they don’t turn 17 until next March.
Manchester United are keen to lure the highly-rated 16-year-old twins from their bitter rivals Manchester City. Talks are taking place behind the scenes between the teams to find an agreement, with the Red Devils prepared to pay a fee in return.
While the 16-year-old twins could only sign professional terms when they turn 17, there is an understanding to pay the fee rather than take the matter to a tribunal. Manchester City could seek a developmental fee in exchange, with the youngsters likely to cross the divide across Manchester.

Despite being Manchester United’s technical director’s sons, Jack and Tyler spent their formative years at Manchester City. The former Manchester United midfielder is not influencing proceedings, as the club has considered the moves for a long time.
Such a deal would bring back memories of former Brazilian pair Fabio and Rafael, with the twis going on to play for Manchester United’s first team. The Red Devils hope Jack and Tyler take a similar path and break into the main team in the coming years.
A source close to Manchester Evening News had some insights on this transfer. The source said, “The United academy has monitored Jack and Tyler for a number of years and made a preliminary approach to City last week to open discussions. “It is still at a really early stage, so you never know what will happen.”
“Neither of the boys has signed scholarship terms yet, so they are at the stage when they can explore their options. As junior internationals, they are amongst the most talented U16s players in the United Kingdom, so United are naturally interested in adding them to an already strong age group.”
The report also suggests Fletcher has no say in how his children prefer to take their careers to the next level. He has seemingly supported their choices and is not the pushing factor behind Manchester United pursuing the 16-year-old twins.
