Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly looking to sign David Raya, valued at £40 million, from Brentford this summer.
David Raya has emerged as a top target for Tottenham Hotspur. And reputed Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano claims that the two parties are now close to agreeing on personal terms ahead of a move in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham will have to shell out £40 million for the goalkeeper this summer. And it will be interesting to see if Brentford are willing to negotiate a more reasonable price. Recent reports have claimed that Spurs do not want to meet Brentford’s asking price.
The 27-year-old has been a key performer for Brentford, and his performances have attracted the attention of Tottenham. Spurs need to bring in a quality replacement for Hugo Lloris, and the Spanish international would be a quality option.
Although £40 million seems steep for a player who is in the final year of his contract, Raya is a proven performer in the Premier League and could justify the outlay in the coming seasons. The goalkeeper has refused to sign an extension with Brentford. So it is fair to assume that he will be sold this summer. Brentford cannot afford to lose a player of his ability as a free agent.

Although they are demanding £40 million for him, it would not be surprising if they decided to lower the asking price towards the end of the window. Given the fact that the player is on the verge of agreeing personal terms with Tottenham, Brentford will be under pressure to resolve the player’s future soon.
The 27-year-old will look to take the next step in his career and join a club capable of challenging for trophies. Although Tottenham had a disappointing 2022/23 season, they have a talented squad and could push for trophies next season under new manager Ange Postecoglou.

The 57-year-old Australian manager did well at Celtic and will be expected to get the best out of his players at Tottenham now. The North London giants missed out on Champions League qualification and will be desperate to get back into the top four. Signing players like David Raya will certainly improve the squad and help them return to the Champions League.
