Manchester United in talks to sign Randal Kolo Muani

Manchester United have reportedly been in contact with Eintracht Frankfurt over the possibility of signing in-demand striker Randal Kolo Muani.

According to The Athletic, Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt to discuss the prospect of signing World Cup finalist Randal Kolo Muani.

Director of Football John Murtough is said to have accelerated transfer talks since the Reds qualified for the Champions League with a third-place finish in the Premier League, as evidenced by the fact that the club has just agreed personal terms with midfield target Mason Mount.

Manchester United fans will also be expecting a new striker to arrive this summer, with Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani emerging as an alternative to top target Harry Kane. Reports state that the France international, who played in the World Cup final defeat to Argentina, has surfaced as a potential target for United.

Having only joined the Bundesliga club on a free transfer last summer, the former Nantes frontman has emerged as arguably the hottest striker talent this season, having recorded 23 goals and 17 assists in 43 appearances for Frankfurt.

These goals and assists have seen him emerge as a force at the international level as well, with seven France caps to his name since the move. The 24-year-old also found the back of the net for France en route to the World Cup final last December. His blistering speed and that of Marcus Rashford would make Manchester United’s attack more fearsome should a move work out.

However, with the striker market expected to be a fierce one this summer and Kolo Muani’s long-term contract until 2027, Eintracht Frankfurt have told potential suitors that any deal could cost in excess of €80 million, which comes as a blow to Erik ten Hag.

What’s more, Kolo Muani is very much a man in demand. The player is said to have been eyed by a number of big-name clubs, including the likes of Napoli, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, PSG, and Bayern Munich, all of whom are interested in having him.

Despite the reported interest from the top brass, he has suggested that he may opt to remain at Eintracht Frankfurt next season.

He told TMW: “I could stay. I have a long contract and as a result, there is, of course, the possibility that I could still be the striker for Eintracht. The millions can be a pressure, but there will be another time to say goodbye. Now is not the right time.”

As such, the Red Devils have also shortlisted Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund, who is seen as the more likely option at this moment in time.
