Manchester City are interested in acquiring the services of 26-year-old Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.
According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester City are keen on having Marcos Senesi in their ranks. The 26-year-old centre-back has been impressive in the English top flight, and City want him as a potential replacement for Aymeric Laporte, who is all set to leave the club.
Laporte has been a great servant for Manchester City over the years. However, he has fallen down the pecking order in the ongoing season. The 28-year-old defender is not happy with the limited game time that he has got and is ready to part ways with the club.
Meanwhile, Manchester City have already identified Laporte’s replacement. Pep Guardiola’s team have been closely monitoring the 26-year-old for a while now. And, they believe he could be a great fit for the club.
Senesi came into the limelight while playing for Feyenoord. His performances attracted the attention of Bournemouth, who signed him ahead of the ongoing season which marked their return to the Premier League.
The 26-year-old Argentine centre-back has been a great acquisition for the Cherries, who are currently 14th in the league. And, if things go according to plan, they will be featuring in the English top flight once again next season.
Senesi has done wonders for Bournemouth, and the 26-year-old defender has been involved in 32 matches and also has two goals to his name. The former Feyenoord defender has been their mainstay, and his performances have impressed people at Manchester City.
His contract with the Cherries runs until the summer of 2026. With quite a lot of years left in his deal, Bournemouth will be in the driver’s seat during the negotiations. And they will only let him leave for a fee of around €20 million.
With Laporte all set to leave the club, Manchester City are in need of a left-footed centre-back. And, having watched Senesi put in solid performances in the Premier League, they believe he can be a great fit for Guardiola’s team. He could be a great acquisition for the present as well as the future. But Josko Gvardiol is a top target for Manchester City, and it will be interesting to see who bolsters their defence.
