Arsenal have contacts with Xavi Simons, summer move on the cards

Arsenal are in contact with the agents of Xavi Simons ahead of the summer as the Dutch sensation is likely to depart PSV Eindhoven.

According to Journalist Aad de Mos via Sport Witness, Xavi Simons could emerge on Arsenal’s list of summer targets. The Gunners have reportedly established contacts with the Dutch sensation’s agents as the player could look for a switch away from PSV Eindhoven.

Xavi Simons has been associated with some of the biggest clubs in his short career so far. Still, he has found his feet only at PSV Eindhoven. he rejected the idea of staying at Paris Saint-Germain last summer and chose football under Ruud Van Nistelrooy for the glamour of Paris.

The move has proved perfect for all parties, with Simons excelling under Van Nistelrooy. The attacking midfielder has scored 16 goals and assisted 9 times in the league alone, thus making him one of the formidable talents to enter the next window. But he has 31 goal contributions across all competitions.

A host of Premier League sides are crazy about signing the Dutch sensation in the summer. Among those are Arsenal, with Journalist Aad de Mos, insisting the Gunners are in contact with the attacking midfielder’s entourage.

Mikel Arteta remains in search of another attacking midfielder and has kept tabs on the Dutch sensation for some time now. Spanish star Gabri Viega is also a target from Celta Vigo. But the Gunners’ boss keeps his options open.

The journalist suggested Simons might look for a new opportunity and may consider Arsenal as a new challenge. He told Voetbal Zone, “His change of manager indicates that he is searching. Maybe he is thinking about Arsenal. His new agents have a lot of contacts there. I hope Earnest Stewart (PSV’s technical director) can manage to keep Simons here in Eindhoven. That should be priority number one for PSV, and so steps need to be taken quickly.”
