Brighton are prepared to listen to offers for Moises Caicedo

Brighton will consider offers for in-demand midfielder Moises Caicedo, with Arsenal and Manchester United among the teams keen.

According to 90min, Moises Caicedo could still exit Brighton in the summer as the Seagulls could consider offers for the Ecuadorian. The midfielder was the subject of heavy speculation in January. But the report suggests an exit could be possible if interested parties make a huge bid.

The report reckons Brighton will consider offers if Brighton receive a bid surpassing the £80 million mark. If they do end up selling him for that price, the Seagulls will see it as a remarkable business. Add the potential sale of Alexis Mac Allister; they are looking at around £150 million for players that cost 11 million a few years ago.

Roberto De Zerbi has good control over transfer decisions as the Italian has grown in stature at the Amex. However, the club may supersede his authority if those figures are achievable. Ideally, they would have wanted to lose only one key star, with Mac Allister closing in on a move to Liverpool.

However, if interested parties come up with a mammoth offer for Caicedo, the PL club are ready to listen to offers for the in-demand midfielder. Arsenal and Manchester United are two clubs keen and were recently quoted a similar number to prise the Ecuadorian away.

Liverpool are close to signing Mac Allister but had also pondered bringing Caicedo. However, the Merseysides have now cooled their interest in him, as they may be unable to afford the duo in the same window. Hence, the likelihood of Caicedo joining another big Premier League side looms large.

David Ornstein of The Athletic recently revealed the presence of a clause in Caicedo’s contract. While the terms of it are unclear, he did reveal the midfielder could depart if the interested club met certain conditions.

Manchester United have expressed an interest in the midfielder. Erik ten Hag is keen on a solid addition to supporting Casemiro next season. The Brighton star could even replace the Brazilian long-term, but the Red Devils face tough competition from Arsenal.

Mikel Arteta wanted Caicedo in January, as Brighton rejected at least two bids from the Gunners. The north London side reportedly went up to £70 million in the summer, and consider the Brighton star a priority for the next window.

Widespread reports have pointed at Arsenal’s desire to sign Declan Rice, but they are also keen to bring Caicedo. So it’s not a topic of one of those two stars, as Arteta wants them both at the Emirates next season.

Arsenal are intent on strengthening their midfield; some may see that as a revamp. But with their re-entry into the Champions League, Arteta wants a strong squad as they are keen on challenging on multiple fronts.

Whether they or Manchester United agree to make huge bids for Caicedo remains the question. However, the midfielder’s showing warrants a massive transfer, something he was keen on in January. He did sign a long-term deal, but a clause may allow his departure for the right offer.
