Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in acquiring the services of 30-year-old Tottenham winger Lucas Moura.
According to a report by Fichajes, Aston Villa and Newcastle United are interested in having Lucas Moura in their ranks. The 30-year-old is all set to part ways with Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season. And, quite a few clubs from across Europe are interested in his services.
Lucas Moura joined Tottenham back in the winter of 2018 from Paris Saint-Germain. Spurs paid around £23 million to acquire his services. The 30-year-old had quite an impact in the initial years at the club. He was integral to their dream run in the 2019 UEFA Champions League, where they ended up losing the final.
While he was an integral part of their setup in the initial years, the story is not the same anymore. He has fallen way down in the pecking order. And, Lucas has hardly featured for their first team in the ongoing season. The Brazil international has been involved in 17 matches in total. Majority of his appearances have come off the bench and he has been on the pitch for just over 300 minutes.
Moura’s contract at Spurs ends in the summer. And, the club have made it pretty clear that they won’t be renewing his deal. As a result, the 30-year-old is all set to be a free agent after the end of the season. And, quite a few clubs are ready to push for him.

While there is no certainty that he would like to continue in England, there are a couple of Premier League clubs keen on having him in their ranks. Newcastle United and Aston Villa are all set to bet on him.
Unai Emery has done wonders since taking charge of Aston Villa. He has completely turned around the fortunes of the club. And, the Spanish manager now wants to take the next step. He wants to reinforce his attack before heading into the next season.
While Aston Villa’s priority is to add a new number nine, they also want to add another winger to their ranks. Emery is looking for raw pace and Moura could surely do that for him. And, the fact that he will be a free agent makes it more feasible for them.
However, they will face tough competition from Newcastle United. The Magpies are likely to feature in the Champions League next season. Eddie Howe will look to add more quality to his ranks to be competitive in both Premier League and UCL.
They will need a greater squad depth and experience that can help their cause. As a result, adding someone like Lucas Moura will only make them a more competitive outfit. He will add more pace to their attack and he can even chip in with crucial goals.
