Liverpool will reportedly look to sign Piotr Zielinski from Serie A club Napoli, with £30 million likely to seal the deal.
According to a report by Polish outlet Meczyki, Piotr Zielinski is the subject of interest from Liverpool. The Reds view the Napoli midfielder as a potential solution to their issues in the middle of the park. And the Serie A giants will be open to parting ways with the Ukrainian international if a suitor shells out £30 million.
Piotr Zielinski has come leaps and bounds since Napoli from Udinese in August 2016. The 28-year-old was already one of the best prospects in Serie A seven years ago and has established himself as among the finest midfielders in the league. At the same time, he has been a pivotal figure for his national side.
The Polish international has been excellent this season in Napoli’s Serie A winning campaign. He has seven goals and ten assists in 43 appearances across all competitions. But Zielinski’s contract situation has left the Partenopei in a spot of bother, as he is into the final 18 months of his deal. Such a situation has captured the attention of several clubs, including Liverpool.
Liverpool will enter the summer transfer window knowing they desperately need to bolster the midfield unit. The Reds have been dreadful this season, with the inconsistencies of the midfielders particularly contributing to their struggles. And Liverpool will likely lose James Milner, Naby Keita, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as free agents this summer.
In addition, Jordan Henderson and Fabinho have blown hot and cold, with their performance levels dropping. At the same time, Thiago Alcantara’s persistent fitness woes have been frustrating for Jurgen Klopp. So it behoves Liverpool to delve into the market for multiple midfield reinforcements. Alexis Mac Allister has thus emerged as the top target.
But while the Reds are closing in on signing the Argentine international, they need more signings. Zielinski is thus a viable target for Liverpool. And the Merseyside club can sign the 28-year-old for around £30 million. But Liverpool will face stiff competition from several other clubs for the Napoli midfielder.

West Ham United and Newcastle United are also keen on prising the Pole away from the Serie A club. And with Newcastle on the cusp of sealing UEFA Champions League qualification, Liverpool will have an uphill task while pursuing Zielinski. And it will be interesting to see if the Reds win the race to land him.
