Real Madrid will reportedly look to sign teenage Spanish defensive prodigy Izan Moreno from Malaga in the coming months.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Izan Moreno is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. The reigning La Liga champions want to install the teenage sensation to their youth division in La Fabrica. And the Spanish defensive prodigy has a release clause worth €3 million.
Izan Moreno has spent his formative years in his homeland, rising through the ranks at Malaga. Yet to turn 18, the teenage wonderkid has been a solid performer in age-group football in Spain. And he is on the cusp of seeking promotion to the Malaga first-team squad.
A centre-back by trade, Moreno reads the game well and does not shy away from throwing crunching tackles. In addition, the Spanish defensive prodigy excels in 1v1 situations. Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, with Real Madrid among his prospective suitors.
The reigning La Liga champions have been active in the market in recent years, especially to poach promising youngsters. Florentino Perez has driven this outlook, enabling Real Madrid to ensure a smooth progression from one generation to the next. And Perez’s project recently continued with the signing of Endrick.
But while Endrick will likely join the first-team squad almost immediately, Perez also wants Real Madrid to bolster the youth teams. Several youngsters, including Malaga prodigy Juanma Lopez, have thus popped up on Los Blancos‘ radar. But Izan Moreno is also a viable target for the Spanish club.
Real Madrid can do with a centre-back in the youth division. And if Moreno progresses well in the coming years, he will likely establish himself in the first-team squad. But the Spanish defensive prodigy has a hefty release clause in his contract. And Real Madrid will need to pay €3 million to sign the teenage sensation.
It is unclear if Real Madrid will be open to shelling out €3 million to secure Moreno’s services this summer. For now, the Malaga wonderkid has emerged on the Merengues’ radar as they continue to scour the market for youth prospects.
