Chelsea are interested in acquiring the services of 24-year-old Paris Saint-Germain full-back Achraf Hakimi, who will cost £60 million.
According to Football Insider, Chelsea want to sign Achraf Hakimi ahead of next season. Despite signing multiple young talented players over the last few transfer windows, the Blues are looking to add a few more to their ranks. And, the Paris Saint-Germain full-back, valued at around £60 million, is on their radar.
Hakimi joined Real Madrid back in 2006. He came through the ranks at Los Blancos and was also sent out on loan to Borussia Dortmund for two years. He went from strength to strength while playing for the German club. And the Moroccan international’s performances resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
Inter Milan managed to prise him away from Real Madrid in 2020. And after a successful season at Inter, the 24-year-old joined Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2021. While Hakimi has done a decent job for the Ligue 1 club since joining them, he might be on the move in the summer.
Despite having some of the best footballers in the world, PSG have failed to fulfil their desire of winning the Champions League. As a result, the club are all set to execute a squad overhaul. And, they are considering the departure of the 24-year-old full-back, slapping a £60 million price tag on him.
As per reports, PSG are willing to accept an offer around the region of £50-60 million. The Ligue 1 champions believe it is a fair price tag for the Moroccan international given they paid a similar figure to acquire his services a few years back.
Meanwhile, Chelsea, who were interested in the 24-year-old a few years back, are all set to push for him in the summer. The Blues have been monitoring the full-back for a few years now. Despite the change in ownership at the English club, they are still desperate to land the PSG right-back.
However, it will be interesting to see what impact it has on Reece James who is the preferred right-back choice for the Blues. Given the number of injuries that James has suffered of late, it looks like a great move from Chelsea.
That said, Malo Gusto will arrive at Stamford Bridge in the summer and should compete with James for the right-back berth. Nonetheless, Hakimi remains a target for Chelsea. But, they will have to first offload quite a few players before pushing for the signatures of Hakimi.
