Carlo Ancelotti pushing Real Madrid to sign Nicolo Barella

Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants Real Madrid to pursue 26-year-old Inter Milan creative midfielder Nicolo Barella, a target for Manchester United.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Nicolo Barella is the subject of interest from Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti wants Los Blancos to secure the services of the Inter Milan playmaker. And the 26-year-old creative midfielder is also a target for Manchester United ahead of the summer transfer window.

Nicolo Barella has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A since his days with Cagliari. And the Italian international has seen his stock skyrocket since joining Inter Milan in 2019. He has gone from strength to strength in the last four years while being a pivotal figure for his national side.

The 26-year-old has blown hot and cold this term, with his inconsistencies playing a part in Inter’s struggles this term. But he still has a handy tally of eight goals and nine assists in 43 appearances thus far this season. However, that has not deterred Barella’s prospective suitors, with Real Madrid and Manchester United keen on signing him.

The creative midfielder has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time. And the interest in the Italian playmaker is hardly surprising, considering Luka Modric and Toni Kroos’s advancing years. So the reigning La Liga champions must lay down a succession plan for the ageing midfield duo.

Barella has thus emerged as a viable target for Real Madrid. And Carlo Ancelotti wants Los Blancos to pursue the 26-year-old in the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid will face stiff competition from Manchester United for the Inter Milan playmaker.

Manchester United will enter the market for a midfield reinforcement as they search for Casemiro’s ideal partner. Erik ten Hag’s preferred target is Frenkie de Jong. But the Dutch midfielder does not want to leave Barcelona anytime soon. So Manchester United will need a contingency plan for a progressive midfielder, bringing Barella into the picture.

It will be interesting to see if Manchester United can beat the competition to sign the Italian international.
