Real Madrid formulate plan to sign Erling Haaland

Real Madrid are interested in acquiring the services of 22-year-old Manchester City striker Erling Haaland in the near future.

According to AS, Real Madrid are formulating a plan to sign Erling Haaland. The 22-year-old striker has been on fire in the ongoing season and he is one the most sought-after players in the world at this point in time.

The 22-year-old is Manchester City’s most prized possession and acquiring his services could easily cost a fortune.

The Norwegian international became the talk of the town while playing for Borussia Dortmund. And, a lot of clubs wanted to sign him. However, City managed to land the 22-year-old at the club ahead of the ongoing season.

And, since joining the English team, Haaland has found the back of the net on 48 occasions. Since his arrival in England, records have tumbled. The 22-year-old has featured in 41 matches and has 54 goal contributions.

While his contract at City runs until the summer of 2027, there are ways of signing him in the near future and Real Madrid are formulating plans to do so. The Madrid-based club have been interested in his services for a while now.

Los Blancos are aware of the release clause in his contract of around €220 million. But, that only comes into effect in 2024. And, the team in white are willing to wait.

Apart from that there are different situations that could lead him to Madrid. If he fails to win the Champions League or the Ballon d’Or within the next two seasons, the 22-year-old could consider moving to Los Blancos.

If he fulfils the goal of winning the UCL as well as the Ballon d’Or, Haaland would love to explore the chance of playing for Real Madrid. And, if fails to do so the 22-year-old would be desperate to join Madrid given the fact that they could present him with a better and bigger platform where he could fulfil his desires.

The release clause in his contract will stay active in 2025 as well as 2026 and the amount will decrease with each passing year. However, it won’t be an easy task signing the 22-year-old because of his contract at City. Haaland has 100% of his image rights which could be a problem for Los Blancos.

Madrid are willing to try their luck and will keep the door open for Haaland. And, given the fact that Karim Benzema is in the twilight of his career, the decision is quite understandable.
