Vincent Kompany set to snub move to Chelsea, Tottenham

Vincent Kompany wants to continue as Burnley’s manager next season amid interest from Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.

According to a report by Football Insider, Vincent Kompany is all set to snub Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in favour of Burnley. The 37-year-old wants to continue as Burnley’s manager after helping them gain promotion to the Premier League in the ongoing season.

The former Manchester City skipper started off his managerial career at RSC Anderlecht. And, after a successful stint with the Belgian football club, Kompany joined Burnley ahead of the ongoing season. The 37-year-old has done wonders since moving to the Championship side.

He also already managed to secure direct promotion to the Premier League and could seal the Championship title with a win over Rotherham today (18 April). The former Anderlecht manager has been in charge of Burnley in 49 matches. And, he has only lost four of those fixtures. The 37-year-old has been on the right side of the result on 31 occasions and has been involved in 14 draws.

He has averaged 2.18 points per match, and his performances have resulted in a lot of attention of late. Kompany is on the radar of Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Both the Premier League clubs are keen on having him as their new manager. The Blues have had a disappointing season so far. Despite spending a fortune on signing players, they have failed to produce results on the pitch.

The board wanted to stick with Graham Potter as their manager. But disappointing results one after the other have resulted in his sacking. And, Frank Lampard has been appointed Chelsea’s caretaker manager until the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Chelsea are impressed with what they have seen of Kompany in the Championship. And, they would love to have him on their bench next season. Even Tottenham are interested in having the 37-year-old as their new boss.

The London club parted ways with Antonio Conte a few weeks back. And, they handed over the reins of the club to Cristian Stellini on an interim basis. Spurs have been monitoring Kompany for a while now. Tottenham are keen on having the former Manchester City defender as their new manager.
