Liverpool have submitted an £84 million offer for 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund midfield sensation Jude Bellingham
According to Haydn Dodge via CaughtOffside, Liverpool have been keen on signing Jude Bellingham ahead of next season for a while now. And as per the reports, they have submitted an £84 million offer for the 19-year-old Borussia Dortmund star.
Haydn said: “It’s known that a bid just shy of £100m has been submitted for Jude Bellingham ahead of this summer’s transfer window.”
Bellingham started off at Birmingham back in 2010. The teenager went up the ranks at the club and became a first-team regular very early on in his career. His performances attracted the attention of some of the biggest clubs across Europe and Dortmund somehow managed to land the 19-year-old at the club.
He has since gone from strength to strength. The England international has featured in over 120 matches for the German club and has 45 goal contributions. In the ongoing season, he has 17 goal contributions in his 37 outings.
While his contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2025, he is expected to leave the club in the summer given the amount of interest in his services. Many big clubs across Europe want to sign the 19-year-old but Liverpool seems to be moving quite fast in their pursuit.
The Merseyside club have struggled in the ongoing season, they have been knocked out of the Champions League and are fighting for a top-four finish in the league. The major reason for their struggle has been an inconsistent midfield.
Jurgen Klopp their manager is keen on midfield reinforcement, he is looking for a complete overhaul in the centre of the park. And, his primary target is Bellingham. As a result, they have already placed an £84 million bid. However, they are yet to receive a response from Dortmund who await bids from clubs across Europe from now on until the summer transfer window.
While the Merseyside club have already placed a bid for the 19-year-old, they will still have to battle it out with Real Madrid for the England international’s services. Bellingham is considered a key target for Los Blancos who are looking to replace Luka Modric.
The Croatian midfielder is in the twilight of his career and Ancelotti is keen on having Bellingham as his replacement. With Madrid in the mix, it will be interesting to see who comes out on top.
