Manchester United are keen on signing 21-year-old Mexican international Santiago Gimenez ahead of next season.
According to a report by WDeportes, Manchester United want to sign Santiago Gimenez in the summer. The 21-year-old has been doing wonders of late, scoring 23 goals this season. His performances have attracted the attention of a lot of clubs.
Manchester United are likely to push for Santiago Gimenez’s signature in the summer. The Red Devils are in desperate need of attacking reinforcement, and they have identified the 21-year-old as a key transfer target.
Gimenez started at the youth academy of CD Cruz Azul. He came through the ranks at the club and became an important first-team player before joining Feyenoord ahead of the ongoing season. The Mexico international has been in Europe for under a year. But what he has done on the pitch in the limited time has made him a highly sought-after player.
As far as the ongoing season is concerned, the 21-year-old has 27 goal contributions in his 42 outings, scoring 23 times. And, when we talk about his heroics in Europe, Gimenez has found the back of the net on 18 occasions and has four assists in his 37 outings.
His numbers in front of the goal are very impressive. And, despite Feyenoord him having a contract until the summer of 2026, the 21-year-old is expected to make a move to a bigger club in the upcoming window.
Manchester United are interested in the services of the Mexican international. The Red Devils are in search of a new number and have him on their radar while also establishing contact with him. While they do have Harry Kane as a priority, Gimenez is a much more affordable option and that is why they are keen on him.
With Anthony Martial likely to part ways with the club in the summer and Wout Weghorst set to return to his parent club, Manchester United do not have an out-and-out number nine to pair up with Marcus Rashford up top. Erik ten Hag is desperate for a new number nine.
Meanwhile, the Dutch manager believes signing a new striker is a must in the summer. And, he would love to have Gimenez in his ranks. The 21-year-old has a release clause of around €20 which could make things easy for United. However, they will still face competition from a few other clubs that are keen on having the Feyenoord striker in their ranks.
