Tottenham will sign Dejan Kulusevski permanently despite doubts amid Antonio Conte’s departure and the Champions League race.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham will complete the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski in the summer. There were doubts about whether Spurs would trigger their clause to sign him permanently, which remains an obligation pertaining to conditions.
Tottenham are not in the best mood right now, considering what has gone down at the club over the last few weeks. At first, it was their performances causing friction with the fans, which resulted in an outburst from Antonio Conte, resulting in his sacking.
Then, director Fabio Paratici’s 30-month ban was extended to worldwide operations, resulting in the executive stepping back. While searching for a new director remains underway, they still have not figured out who might replace Conte at the Helm.
The Italian manager’s departure has raised doubts about whether Tottenham remains equipped to finish in the top four. Newcastle United’s win over Manchester United pushed Spurs out to fifth. But they could reclaim the fourth spot with a win over Everton on Monday.
If they are to finish outside the top four, there could be doubts over Dejan Kulusevski’s future. The Swedish international has not performed at his best after some scintillating displays to help Spurs finish fourth last season.
Tottenham signed the 22-year-old from Juventus on an 18-month loan in January 2022. There is an obligation to sign the attacker permanently on conditions, including Champions League qualification.
Juventus have already received €10 million as a loan fee for the attacker and will receive €35 million more when the deal becomes permanent. There have been doubts recently, leading to links with clubs in Italy. However, the player wants to continue in north London, and Tottenham will complete the signing.
The report suggests the possibility of not finishing in the top four may have no bearing on Tottenham’s plans with Kulusevski. Additionally, while he was always touted as a ‘Conte signing’, the Italian’s departure will not change their ideas.
Tottenham might begin discussions with Kulusevski and Juventus when the season ends and sign on the dotted line. If they fail, it will come as bad news for the Turin giants considering the player will return with a year left on his deal.
Due to their financial troubles, Juventus will not achieve the €35 million Spurs have an obligation to pay in the current market. Hence, they hope the deal goes through, and Kulusevski becomes a permanent Spurs player in the summer.
