Tottenham are not interested in selling 29-year-old Manchester United target Harry Kane at any cost this summer.
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham will keep hold of Harry Kane at all costs during the summer window. The 29-year-old Manchester United target remains the subject of transfer speculation as he enters the final year of his contract in north London.
Manchester United are keen on signing a high-profile striker in the next window. The club will unlikely pursue a permanent deal for Wout Weghorst and bring in a new frontman. Erik ten Hag is exploring various options, with Harry Kane seen as one of his preferred targets.
Others include Dusan Vlahovic, Victor Osimhen, Goncalo Ramos, Mohammed Kudus and Lautaro Martinez. Yet, the idea of Kane remains their priority for his evident experience in the Premier League and why he would bring immediate success to the club.
While Manchester United are willing to go all out to sign Kane, a transfer may prove challenging. Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy, known for his notoriety in transfer negotiations, will stand in the way. He will not want to strengthen a rival with his best player and hence could block any move to Old Trafford.
Tottenham have reportedly initiated negotiations with Kane over a new contract. However, any decision will likely arrive in the summer as the 29-year-old Manchester United target decides on his future. Some speculate he may look to leave Spurs in pursuit of trophies elsewhere. But the north Londoners have no such plans.
The report suggests Tottenham will not allow Kane to depart and remain convinced they could extend his contract. The potential managerial change at Spurs could have a lasting effect on Kane’s future. The striker is likely to sign a new deal if former boss Mauricio Pochettino replaces Antonio Conte.
There is also talk of Thomas Tuchel taking over, and he, too, would want to keep Kane. The 29-year-old Manchester United target is essential to Tottenham’s transitional plans. He may not have other options than Manchester United in the Premier League.
Recently, Jamie Carragher commented on Kane’s choices on CBS. He said, “I think the only place he can go realistically is Manchester United, and I don’t want to see him at Manchester United for obvious reasons. When you think Liverpool have just signed Darwin Nunez, Manchester City have got Erling Haaland, and he can’t go to Arsenal.”
Manchester United are eager to tie up a move for a new striker early in the summer. While ten Hag wants Kane on priority, the club wants to avoid a saga with Levy for the striker, with Manchester United the only potential suitor.
If that happens, the Red Devils risk wasting time on the 29-year-old and may even miss out on alternate targets. For instance, Osimhen, Vlahovic, and others have clubs chasing around. Hence a quick decision from Kane is what they might look for.
For now, Tottenham are adamant they will keep hold of Kane irrespective of the offer they might receive from Manchester United. Kane may need more power to push for a move despite entering the final year of his deal. His best chance to sign elsewhere would come in 2024 when he becomes a free agent.
