Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is reportedly linked with Arsenal and Liverpool over a move at the end of the season.
Mason Mount will be out of contract in the summer of 2024, and he has rebuffed a number of contract offers from the London club. The 24-year-old could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge in the summer. And the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are thought to be keen on signing him as per Fichajes.
It is no secret that Arsenal will have to add more depth to their midfield, and Mount would add creativity and goals to the side. Arsenal are set to return to the UEFA Champions League next season, and Mikel Arteta will need a deeper squad to compete across all fronts.
Mount has proven itself in the Premier League and the Champions League in his career, and he has helped Chelsea win the European competition. Despite his mediocre form this season, the 24-year-old remains her prodigious talent with a massive potential. Arsenal could certainly benefit from signing someone like him.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they will lose a number of their key midfielders as free agents. And Jurgen Klopp is under pressure to bring in more than just one central midfield reinforcement. Mount could prove to be a quality addition to the Liverpool squad next season.
His style of play should be a good fit for Liverpool’s high-pressing system as well. The Reds have been linked with players like Jude Bellingham as well. But the Chelsea midfielder is likely to be a cheaper option for them.
It remains to be seen whether the Reds can bring in the necessary midfield reinforcements and get back to challenging for the top honours once again. Mount will probably be hoping to join a club in the Champions League. So the Reds must ensure that they finish in the top four this season.
Liverpool will have to put together a winning run to break into the top four and secure Champions League qualification. They cannot afford any slip-ups with clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle United ahead of them in the race.
