Tottenham tracking Marco Asensio

Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing 27-year-old Real Madrid star Marco Asensio in the summer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Marco Asensio ahead of next season. Spurs are keeping an eye on Asensio’s situation at the Madrid-based club. And, are willing to push for his signatures after the ongoing season ends.

The 27-year-old’s contract at Real Madrid ends in the summer. And, if he doesn’t sign a new deal with Los Blancos before the end of the season, he will be available for free. At this point in time, there are no talks regarding an extension. As a result, a lot of big clubs in England have their eyes on him.

Asensio joined Real Madrid back in 2016 from Espanyol. He started off in fine fashion at the Madrid-based club. The 27-year-old was on fire in the initial years but injuries eventually resulted in reduced game time.

The Spanish international has featured in 264 matches for Los Blancos. He has found the back of the net on 55 occasions and has 29 assists to his name. The Madrid forward has won three Champions League titles with the club.

In the ongoing season, he has made 29 appearances for the team in white. He has 11 goal contributions and will be looking to add a few more before the season ends.

Carlo Ancelotti is not really interested in whether Asensio signs a new deal or not. Ancelotti has talked about it openly and said that he is happy as long as the player plays his part for the remainder of the season. It suggests that the 27-year-old might not sign a new deal and look for better opportunities in the summer.

As a result, a lot of clubs have their eyes set on him. Tottenham Hotspur is one of the clubs who want to land the Spanish international at their club. Spurs have a lot of options in attack and they have just signed Arnaut Danjuma in the winter window.

However, Lucas Moura’s contract ends in the summer and he is yet to sign an extension. He might leave for free in the summer and as a result, they are keen on having Asensio to replace him. Antonio Conte would love to have him at his disposal.

But, it won’t be easy given the fact that other clubs are also interested in signing him. Arsenal and Manchester United have also been linked with the forward. And, it will be interesting to see which club manages to convince Marco Asensio to join them.
