Manchester City join the race to sign Dani Olmo

Premier League giants Manchester City have entered the race for the signature of Spanish attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

According to a report by Fichajes, Manchester City have joined the race for the signature of Dani Olmo. The Spanish attacking midfielder might be on his way out of RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 with a lot of clubs interested in his signatures.

Olmo’s contract situation at Leipzig is complicated and as a result, a lot of clubs are keeping a close eye on him. His contract with the German side ends in the summer of 2024. And, as per reports, he is not interested in signing a new deal with the club.

If the club fails to convince him to sign a new deal, they will have to look offload in the summer in order to earn a decent amount. They would not want to let one of their best talents for free and as a result, selling him might be their best option.

Dani Olmo joined the German side back in the winter of 2020 from Dinamo Zagreb. Ever since his arrival at the club, the 24-year-old has featured in 109 matches. He has been directly involved in 44 goals. Olmo has found the back of the net on 20 occasions.

The former Barcelona player has had a decent season so far despite struggling with injuries. The attacking midfielder has played 17 matches and has 10 goal contributions.

Manchester City are keen on signing the Spain international in the summer. Pep Guardiola is interested in having him at his disposal next season. While City do have a lot of quality midfielders but the future of a few of their stars is still in doubt.

Bernardo Silva is one of their star midfielders who might leave in the summer. And, bringing the 24-year-old to Manchester will surely help them continue their dominance in England. He is a versatile player who can play on either flank and can also feature as a central midfielder.

However, City are not the only club who are interested in his signature. Barcelona have also shown interest in Olmo who was a part of their youth academy back in the day. The Catalan giants are keeping a close eye on his situation.

RB Leipzig will try their best to pen down a new deal with the 24-year-old. But, if they fail to convince him, it will be interesting to see which club manages to land him in the summer.
