Premier League clubs Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal make their move to sign Barcelona wonderkid Ansu Fati.
According to Ben Jacobs in his weekly exclusive column for CaughtOffside, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Arsenal have made contact in order to sign Ansu Fati in the summer. The clubs have approached the player’s side as they look to sign the 20-year-old Span international.
Fati joined Barcelona’s famous youth academy, La Masia back in 2012 from Sevilla. Ever since joining the Catalan giants, he has progressed at quite an incredible rate. In 2019 he made his first team debut for Barcelona at the age of 16. He has impressed one and all with his abilities on the pitch.
But, injuries made his life difficult. Multiple surgeries due to a knee injury kept him out of the squad for almost a year. He might have recovered now but is no longer a guaranteed starter in the Barcelona XI and as a result, a move elsewhere seems possible.
Fati has featured in 31 matches so far this season and has only 9 goal contributions. Despite making 20 appearances in La Liga, he has only been on the pitch for just over 700 minutes. Something that the player is not happy about.
However, Barcelona have no intention of selling the player. While there have been contacts with the player’s side. No contacts have been made with Barca by any club.
Ben Jacobs said: “Clubs from the Premier League have made contact on the player’s side, which is also why Barcelona are distancing themselves from the speculation because they are not the ones involved in any talks yet.
Despite his struggles after returning from injury, a lot of clubs are still interested in the player. He has a lot of potential and with age on his side, the common belief is that the best of Fati is yet to come.
Jacobs further added: “At this stage, we have Liverpool, Manchester United, and Arsenal as the three Premier League clubs who are doing due diligence on Fati via the player side. I don’t think there’s as much to the Bayern Munich links.”
Manchester United are keen on adding more firepower to their attack. While Liverpool are still trying to replace Sadio Mane. As far as Arsenal are concerned, they need a bit more in their tank to get back to their former glory days. A few other clubs are also interested in his services but nothing concrete has happened from their end yet.
It will be interesting to how things pan out. The Catalonian giants are not interested in letting the 20-year-old leave but the Premier League clubs will surely try their best to seal the deal.
