Yannick Carrasco is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona amid the 29-year-old’s links with several Premier League clubs.
According to a report by Spanish outlet SPORT, Yannick Carrasco is determined to join Barcelona in the summer transfer window. The 29-year-old has also popped up on the radars of a few Premier League clubs. But the Atletico Madrid wide man is prioritising moving to Spotify Camp Nou.
Yannick Carrasco has enjoyed two superb stints with Atletico Madrid, the latest of which began in 2020. After a short spell in China, the Belgian international returned to the Spanish capital. And he has been a pivotal figure for Los Rojiblancos in the last three years while featuring prominently for his national side.
The 29-year-old wide man has turned out 27 times across all competitions this season, chipping in with four goals and two assists. But the player will likely leave Atletico Madrid in the summer transfer window for good. And Carrasco’s next destination might be Barcelona, with a few Premier League clubs also interested.
Barcelona will have the preferential option to sign Carrasco in the summer transfer window. The Blaugrana can sign the 29-year-old wide man for just €15 million after striking a deal during talks about Memphis Depay in January. But Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Tottenham are also interested.
Intermediaries also offered Manchester United the chance to sign the Belgian international from Atletico Madrid in January. And recent reports have suggested that the Red Devils might consider signing the player in the summer. But Barcelona will likely win the race to sign him at the end of the season.
The preferential option already leaves Barcelona in a bright spot. In addition, Carrasco is keen on moving to Spotify Camp Nou. And despite the budding interest from the Premier League, the 29-year-old is prioritising joining Barcelona. And after selling Depay, signing the Atletico Madrid wide man for €15 million will be a good move.
So Manchester United, Tottenham, and others will likely need to look elsewhere for a wide-attacking reinforcement. But it will be interesting to see if a summer move to Barcelona materialises for Carrasco.
