Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interested in Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder Moises Caicedo due to his £100 million price tag.
According to Kevin Palmer, Liverpool have moved on from 21-year-old Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo because they believe the £100 million asking price is way over the odds.
The Ecuador international has proven to be an exceptional player for Brighton since joining the Premier League club in 2021. And his performances have caught the attention of a number of top clubs.
Apparently, Premier League giants Chelsea and Arsenal are keen on signing the Brighton midfielder as well. And the Seagulls are taking advantage of the situation by demanding a premium for the player.
Brighton value the player at £100 million, and Liverpool are not willing to spend that kind of money on the player. Although the 21-year-old is a prodigious talent with a big future ahead of him, he is still unproven at the highest level and is certainly not worth what Brighton are demanding.
Liverpool are no longer in the race to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton amid claims the asking price is £100m.
A decent player but that fee is insane 🤷🏼♂️ #LFC pic.twitter.com/BmBsdC4w49

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool decide to move for another central midfielder this month. The midfield area has been a major concern for the Reds this season with a number of their top players struggling to hit top form. There have been persistent injury problems with players like Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as well.
Signing a quality central midfielder this month could be the difference between missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification and securing a top-four finish. Liverpool have already improved their attack by signing Cody Gakpo from PSV Eindhoven. And it will be interesting to see if they can get another signing across the line before the January transfer window closes.
It has been a very disappointing season for Liverpool so far, and they are currently ninth in the league table. A club of their stature will be expected to do better. And it remains to be seen whether they can turn things around during the second half of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Caicedo is not the only central midfielder linked with a move to Liverpool in recent weeks. The Premier League side are keen on signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund and Matheus Nunes from Wolverhampton Wanderers as well.
