Arsenal in talks with Ivan Fresneda

Arsenal remain in talks with Real Valladolid over a potential move for young right-back Ivan Fresneda in this transfer window.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal are locked in transfer negotiations for promising prodigy Ivan Fresneda and want to seal a deal as soon as possible. The 18-year-old has emerged as a newfound interest and Mikel Arteta wants him to be a part of his squad at the Emirates.

The Gunners have been on a roll and the North Londoners have opened up a five points lead at the top with a game in hand. Their recent victory against Manchester United have cemented their belief as their title charge continues to head in the right direction.

The Gunners already brought in Leandro Trossard from Brighton & Hove Albion recently and are also on the verge of completing a deal for Polish defender Jakub Kiwior from Italian side Spezia.

Arteta doesn’t want to disrupt his current momentum and despite losing Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea, it hasn’t really affected his plans. Cedric Soares could be sanctioned an early departure to accommodate the arrival of Fresneda who also attracted the attention of Newcastle United.

The youngster has all the attributes to be the modern-day fullback but it is his defensive discipline which has been the catalyst for his success. Ben White has been deputising as the right back this season and the English international has done a fantastic job in a relatively unknown territory.

But Fresneda is an orthodox right back who could bring an abundance of energy to the right side of the defence. The defender wasn’t included in the squad for Valladolid’s loss against Atletico Madrid as the defender might already have played his last match for the Spanish club.

He has a meagre release clause to the tune of £8.8 million which needs to be paid in full. The player seems to be inclined towards a transfer and agreeing to personal terms shouldn’t be a problem.

He should throw an immediate challenge to the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu who have fallen in the pecking order since the emergence of White this season.
