Chelsea ready to hike Moises Caicedo bid

Chelsea are reportedly ready to improve the proposal to sign Moises Caicedo, valued at around £65 million by Brighton & Hove Albion.

According to a report from Daily Mirror, Chelsea are looking to submit a substantial offer for Moises Caicedo before the January transfer window closes. Apparently, the Blues have had a £55 million bid rejected for 21-year-old midfielder, and they are looking to submit an improved offer now.

Chelsea have done well to strengthen their squad this season, and they are hoping to bring in Caicedo as the final piece of the puzzle. But their recent offer, worth around £55 million, was not enough to prise him away from their fellow Premier League club.

Brighton reportedly value the Ecuadorian midfielder at £65 million. And it will be interesting to see if the Stamford Bridge outfit are prepared to pay that kind of money for his services.

Chelsea have had a disappointing season so far, and their chances of UEFA Champions League qualification appear to be slim. They will have to improve immensely during the second half of the campaign to stand any chance of finishing in the top four. Bringing in quality players this month could certainly help their cause. And Caicedo would be a superb addition.

The Ecuador international is one of the best defensive midfielders in the Premier League, and he could improve Chelsea immensely. Furthermore, he could be the ideal long-term replacement for players like Jorginho and N’Golo Kante. Both players might leave Chelsea as free agents, and Graham Potter will need to bring in quality alternatives.

Chelsea were heavily linked with a move for Argentine international Enzo Fernandez earlier this month. But they failed to agree on a deal with Benfica. It seems that they are facing a similar situation with Brighton now. The Seagulls will not sell Caicedo below their £65 million asking price. But according to Daily Mirror, the west Londoners are ready to improve their offer.

The Blues have improved their defense and attack this month. And Caicedo would strengthen them in the middle of the park as well. Also, the player has worked under Potter before, and he should be able to settle in quickly and adapt to his methods instantly. He could make an immediate impact at Stamford Bridge.
