Liverpool are plotting a sensational swoop to bring 22-year-old Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic to the Premier League.
According to Calciomercato, Jurgen Klopp is aiming to bolster his attacking ranks and has targeted Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic. The 22-year-old only joined Juventus last January but has not really performed to the expected mark so far. And the youngster has been in Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Liverpool brought in Darwin Nunez from Benfica as a proper number nine was deemed necessary by manager Jurgen Klopp to keep the pressure on Manchester City. But the Uruguayan striker has not been that promising so far, leading to speculation regarding his long-term future at the club.
Despite his struggles, the lanky forward is believed to be on the radar of Real Madrid. Carlo Ancelotti is an admirer of the Liverpool striker and wants him to be a part of the project at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Reds will not let Nunez leave so easily. But should a mammoth offer, arrive they will likely consider the approach. And Vlahovic will be Klopp’s contingency plan should Liverpool lose Nunez so early, and the Serbian striker could be on his way to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old has had mixed fortunes this season, scoring six goals and providing one assist in the Serie A as the Bianconeri have made a pretty late impact cementing their place in the third position. Vlahovic was recently on target against Switzerland in Serbia’s last group-stage match. But the Eagles crashed out of the World Cup with a 3-2 loss at the hands of their opponent.
With Roberto Firmino due to enter the final six months of his contract, Klopp would urgently want some additional bodies to beat the heat. The former Dortmund manager is so eager to have Vlahovic at his disposal, and he is willing to offer defender Ibrahima Konate to sweeten the deal.
Juventus would be looking to gain a healthy profit and could finalise his sale for a proposed price of €100 million. It will be interesting to see how Liverpool manage to extract that amount, considering they are listed for sale. But the part-exchange proposal sounds unlikely, considering Konate’s stature at Liverpool.
There are not many suitors for Vlahovic at this moment, and Liverpool might have a free run. But the Merseyside outfit still ought to be decisive in their approach, with Manchester United also interested.
