Joao Felix, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United, wants to leave Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window.

According to a report from MARCA, Joao Felix wants to leave Atletico Madrid when the transfer window opens in January. And the 23-year-old Portuguese international is hoping to have an impressive World Cup so that he can secure a big move. The player has been linked with Premier League clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United in recent months, and it will be interesting to see where he ends up.

The highly-talented forward joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 for a fee of around £113 million. But the transfer has not worked out for either party. Felix has not developed as expected, and he has failed to hold down a regular starting berth and score consistently.

It has been a disappointing season for the youngster so far, and he has scored three goals in the league for Atletico Madrid. However, the 23-year-old was quite impressive during Portugal’s World Cup match against Ghana, and he scored an important goal.

It will be interesting to see if Felix can continue to impress in the World Cup and convince one of the big clubs to sign him. Recent reports have linked the youngster with Manchester United and Chelsea.

A January move away from Atletico Madrid would help the player resurrect his career, and he could certainly do with a fresh start right now. In addition to that, the Rojiblancos are struggling with their finances right now and could use the proceeds from the sale.

Chelsea are in need of attacking reinforcements, and Felix could prove to be an upgrade on the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Armando Broja. The Blues are thus keen on signing the Portuguese international.

Meanwhile, Manchester United terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract earlier this month, and they will need to replace the 37-year-old Portuguese international. His compatriot Felix could prove to be a quality long-term investment for the Red Devils.
